HOW TO CHOOSE THE PERFECT SWEETS FOR YOUR CANDY CART

How to choose the perfect sweets
For your candy cart

There are many decisions that need to be taken once you decide to get married! Dress, Church, Hen/Stag destinations, Seating plans etc. At Sweetest Memories we appreciate that you have enough on your plate so we will make sure the presentation of your candy cart is perfect, We can also decide what sweets would suit your party…… But why should we have all the fun?? What follows is a guide to show you a few ways of deciding which sweets are best for you!
There are various ways of deciding which sweets to go for, including colour, theme, preference and nostalgia.

Colour

It is easy to set up a candy cart in all blue/red/pink etc but there are a few things to remember, firstly flavours are important! If you go for a red only cart you are more than likely using a lot of strawberry/ raspberry sweets (Strawbs, Giant Strawberries for example) this can be a bit much so by adding some white sweets (jazzles, Milk bottles, white mice) you change the overall texture of the sweets and the cart still looks fab. When using coloured bows on your jars be sure that any white sweets have bows on, these should be prioritised over jars that contain sweets that already match the theme. You can use colour in so many ways on a cart. In general if the cart is decorated correctly a good cart designer can make any sweets fit a colour theme. At sweetest memories that is something we pride ourselves on.

THEME

People often forget how important a part of your big day a candy cart can be, if your wedding has a theme then the cart should reflect this. It is not just the decorations that should follow the theme, but the sweets too.

For example,if you are having a Victorian sweet cart design with period clothed servers then you want Victorian era sweets, mint balls, chocolate mice, rhubarb and custard, sugared almonds etc.

If you are having a retro buffet on your cart it's simple to go with flumps, gobstoppers, cola bottles, flying saucers and bon bons, but why not go for some branded stuff to mix it up? Love hearts, Wham Bars, Fruit salad, Black Jacks, Highland toffee these always go down a storm.

A Popular theme is extravagance using Lindor, various Ferrero Rocher chocolates, Belgian chocolates and for a bit of fun try and get some American chocolate on there maybe some Hershey or Reeses. The main thing on these types of carts is to keep an eye on the temperature as melted chocolate does not go down well. A handy tip for this one is to display your Ferrero Rocher on a Sweet Tree (see the pictures on this site for examples).

PREFERENCE

Another way of deciding is by choosing all your favourite sweets, no matter the colour or theme. It's your big day and after all the stress is over you're entitled to enjoy your favourite sweets with your favourite people. A nice gesture is to ask Bridesmaids, groomsmen and children for suggestions and throw in some liquorice allsorts for the traditionalists out there.

This has only been a quick run through of some of our principle ideas here at Sweetest Memories, feel free to browse the site for ideas or if all else fails give us a call and we'll do the work for you
